Ted Kienstra Sr. founded the company in the early 1940s as a material supply business in Ferguson, Missouri.
In 1947, he began producing concrete with a straightforward commitment: deliver a quality product at a fair price and provide excellent service. That single North County plant became the foundation for a family-led company now serving communities and construction projects across the St. Louis bi-state region.
Leadership That Carries the Values Forward
Ted Kienstra Jr. joined the company full time in 1965 and helped guide its growth into Kienstra Enterprises. Today, he serves as Chairman. The principles he established—competence, fairness, honesty, loyalty and quality—remain central to the organization.
Dan Bruns, Ted’s son-in-law, joined Kienstra Enterprises in 1994 and now serves as CEO. Dan has carried those principles forward while reinforcing the belief that attitude, ability and work ethic define the character of the Kienstra team.
Colin Bruns has gained experience across multiple areas of the organization and now serves as President. As part of the next generation of leadership, Colin works alongside Ted and Dan to preserve Kienstra’s standards while guiding the company’s continued growth.
Ready Mix Across the Bi-State Region
More than 30 ready-mix plants and a fleet of over 300 trucks serve 19 counties across the St. Louis bi-state region.
Kienstra combines strategically located plants, modern batching technology and an experienced team to serve commercial, municipal, infrastructure and residential projects. This regional network helps coordinate production and delivery while maintaining the dependable, responsive service customers expect from a local supplier.
From major infrastructure and high-volume commercial construction to municipal improvements and a homeowner’s patio, the goal remains the same: quality concrete delivered safely, reliably and on time.
