It all started when…

Ted Kienstra Sr. founded the company and began in business in the early 1940's as a material supply company in Ferguson, Missouri.  He began concrete production in 1947 with a business practice of delivering a quality product at a fair price along with excellent service.  That one small plant in North County has grown into multiple companies and locations today.

HISTORY

Ted Kienstra Jr. started working full time with his father in 1965. Ted, Jr. was the driving force in growing the company which became known as Kienstra Enterprises, Inc. Ted currently serves as the Chairman of the Kienstra companies. Ted has always believed in “doing things the right way” for the benefit of the industry and our companies. Ted has always been known as a man of his word. He values: competence, fairness, honesty, loyalty and quality.

Dan Bruns, Ted’s son-in-law, joined Kienstra Enterprises in 1994. His career path has covered multiple aspects of the organization and today he currently holds the title of President. Dan’s belief is that attitude, ability and work ethic define the character of the Kienstra Team. He has adopted the core values that Ted, Jr. has instilled as core values of the Kienstra companies today. He insists that they will be a constant now and in the future as we grow.

Current

The Kienstra companies currently have 20+ plants serving 7 counties in the St. Louis Bi-State area. Kienstra and its affiliates currently supply concrete in both Missouri and Illinois and have the largest presence in the markets we serve. Our plants deliver ready mixed concrete in St. Louis City and County: Jefferson, St. Charles, Warren and Lincoln Counties in Missouri as well as Madison and St. Clair Counties in Illinois. All of our plants are fully automated and operated by state-of-the-art computer technology. Our plants are regularly calibrated and verified by MoDOT / IDOT for batch accuracy. We operate a fleet of over 150+ ready mix trucks in Missouri and over 65+ ready mix trucks in Illinois. Our fleet is maintained to the highest standards by our in-house mechanics and shops. All of our trucks have satellite tracking as well as back-up radio communication.

Kienstra consistently supports and has been long time members of the following organizations that promote and support concrete and construction in the St. Louis Bi-State region: Concrete Council, Missouri Concrete Association, Illinois Ready Mixed Concrete Association, Southern Illinois Builders Association, St. Louis Home Builders Association, SITE Improvement Association, Associated General Contractors, National Ready Mix Concrete Association and the American Concrete Institute. We ensure that the employees of Kienstra are leaders and active participants in the above associations.

Kienstra thrives in the areas of technical expertise, quality and delivery. We consistently succeed in meeting our customer’s needs whether it is for a 100,000 cubic yard project or a 5 cubic yard patio. No job is too big or too small – we do it all!
